In Memorium - Jeff Weldon

October 13, 1961-December 3, 2017

Jeff Weldon was born in Mt. Ayr, Iowa in 1961. He moved to Soldier, Iowa as an adult and lived there more than 20 years. His love of art began at the age of six or seven and continued through studies at the Studio Art Academy in Omaha after high school.

He created drawings and paintings based either on his own inspiration or on the interests of people who commissioned him. His work ranged from large interior murals and other wall paintings to smaller works in his later years.

Many of his work was inspired by his childhood and by his family. His painting titled Coon Hunt was created to honor the life of the dog in the scene which had been owned by his uncle. After listening to his uncle’s stories of the dog and the hunts he had experienced, Jeff created a painting to express how he visualized these stories. The painting Boy and Dog represented Jeff as a child, sitting under his favorite tree near a small footbridge.

We are honored to show some of his paintings at Graceful Grind Coffeehouse in Mapleton, Iowa.
