Artist Statement: I have always enjoyed creating items in anything textile, I took to spinning and weaving at a young age. Love fabrics of all kinds, enjoy sewing. Matting and framing offered me not only a business adventure for several years but touching a variety of paper was always a pleasure! I continue to weave in retirement and will continue on for many moons! I am blessed to live in the Loess Hills and am so inspired by our surroundings. I am particularly fond of weaving scenes I see and pencil draw and take those drawings or photos and create them in a Native American weaving technique called tapestry! As I’ve gotten older I’ve developed a true passion for rocks, fossils, minerals, gem stones of all kinds and enjoy making handmade jewelry as well! I enjoy being diverse!
Artist Bio: I love anything textile. As a little girl my Mom taught me to embroider. And so it began… I purchased my 1st spinning wheel in 1975. I took weaving classes in Omaha where I grew up. Moved to Santa Fe N.M. as a young adult and took further classes there. Came back to the heartland in 1982. Continued to weave and spin. Went on to take beginning and advance matting and framing at WIT in the early 90’s and incorporated that into my abilities! Purchased my exsisting home which includes my art studio in a one hundred and seventeen year old storefront in Soldier Iowa! Proud to be a native Iowan and enjoy the family history. I love Iowa!
